How To Conquer Anxiety Instead Of Letting Anxiety Conquer You

I lived with anxiety for a really long time. I’m 30 years old now and I’ve had anxiety for most of my life. It’s only been the last couple of years or so that I’ve really felt anxiety free and before that I never felt like I would ever get on top of anxiety. I felt like it would be my life, that this is just how it would be all the time and I really couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I felt a lot of despair because I believed that this is how it would be forever for me.

I’m sharing this because if you are someone who’s consumed by anxiety and wants to heal it, I want you to know that there is hope. I want you to know that I can relate and I really understand it. I know it looks like I’m very calm now and I mostly am, but it’s hard for people to believe that I used to be consumed by anxiety.

One of the key things that I believe is important to conquering anxiety is acknowledging and understanding it. So here are 3 things to keep in mind if you have anxiety and want to heal from it.

1 – Anxiety is a fear. Whether that fear is perceived or whether it’s real (so whether it’s something that you believe that you’re scared of or whether it’s an actual fear of something that is very real) it’s basically a fear. It’s something that you need to acknowledge. Then work out what your triggers are and work out why you’re feeling this fear. Really look into it and tune into it to see what is actually going on there.

2 – When we have anxiety it generally means that something is out of alignment. So for me I had a lot of stuff going on that just didn’t line up with who I was and that caused me a lot of anxiety. Look at where your life is not aligned with who you are and where you want to be, clear those things out and that will decrease your anxiety automatically.

3 – I believe anxiety is your soul calling you. If you’re someone who has anxiety, chances are that you’re not on your soul calling pathway or doing the things that you were meant to be doing, what you were put here to do and what your soul is meant to be doing. That is what I experienced when I had anxiety because I wasn’t doing anything purposeful with my life. I was doing all the ‘right’ things – I had a job, I had a relationship and all that kind of stuff, but I wasn’t doing anything that really deeply fulfilled me. Once I started to shift towards really listening to what my soul was calling me to do and actually doing that, this in turn relieved some of the anxiety.

There are many factors that contribute to anxiety and there was a heap of other things that I did to heal, but these were the main ones. If you’re on your anxiety healing journey, I hope this helps you to conquer it xo
